The Squirrels won their second game to start the season on Saturday with a 6-1 victory against the Laughing Skulls. Despite the lopsided score, the Squirrels took nearly an entire period to get a goal, and goalie Craig Beatty made several great saves.
Dave Chung, aka ‘Killer,’ scored from in tight to give the Squirrels a 1-0 lead late in the first period. Mario Constantinou scored on the power play early in the second period, before Jason Wolf and Geoff Grek padded the Squirrels’ lead to 4-0.
Midway through the third period, Mike Bartock provided the backbreaker with a short-handed goal. With just a few minutes to play, the Squirrels kept up the pressure, as Billy King hit in a rebound from Vivek Pinto’s breakaway. Unfortunately, the Skulls broke the shutout with a late goal. Pinto had three assists in the game.
