Squirrels 3, Thundercats 2 (SO)

The Squirrels got the summer season started out right with a 3-2 shootout victory against the defending champs, the Thundercats.

Jason Wolf got the season scoring started by hitting in his own rebound in the first period, a few minutes before the Thundercats tied it. In the second period, the Thundercats scored with 10 seconds left on a power play to take the lead, which stood until 8:40 of the third period when Mike Bartock made several moves and scored to tie the game.

In the shootout, Tony Richelsen and Bartock each scored, while Craig Beatty made two of three stops.

Jason Gustafson,  Matthew Savard and Billy King made their Squirrels debut.
