It wasn’t the prettiest game, but the Squirrels won their third in a row to open the season with a 7-6 shoot-out victory against the Eagles on Thursday.
Tony Richelsen had a first-period hat trick, Vivek Pinto scored twice, and Dave Chung and Jason Gustafson each tallied. While the Squirrels were shooting on a sub goalie known for giving up easy goals, the Eagles hung in the game, and tied it in the third period to force the shootout.
Dave Tran made all three saves in the shootout while Pinto scored to seal the victory.
