The Squirrels got knocked out of the playoffs Friday with a 4-3 loss to Wolfe Pack, the team they beat in last season’s championship game.
And while the Squirrels didn’t dwell on the loss, watching some of the Wolfe Pack players cry their way to victory made it slightly more enjoyable. One player, after talking a lot of trash to the Squirrels bench, telling them that he was going to score a goal, fell through the door to the bench and struggled to get up. Even with three seconds remaining and a 4-3 Wolfe Pack lead, one player took a penalty and angrily slammed his stick down, as if having a sure victory wasn’t reason to be happy.
The Squirrels got goals from Mike Bartock, Mario Constantinou, and Scott Kronzek. The game-winner against the Squirrels trickled in on a fluky bounce.
