The Squirrels and the Eagles split their season series, 2-2, but the Eagles had been slipping lately and the last-place Squirrels walloped them, 7-3, in the first round of the playoffs.
Shorthanded, Tim Stump got the Squirrels on the board to tie the game at 1 in the first period, and Bob Valdes gave the Squirrels the lead later in the period.
Mike Bartock and Brandon Barkoff both scored early in the second period to give the Squirrels a 4-1 lead. Then only eight seconds after the Eagles scored, Dave Chung gave the Squirrels a 5-2 lead going into the third period.
Jason Wilf and Mario Constantinou each scored in the third period while the Eagles got one. Along with his shorthanded goal, Stump also had three assists, while Tony Richelsen had two.
The Squirrels next play Friday.
