Squirrels 9, Eagles 6

The Squirrels exploded for nine goals in their first game of the season on Thursday, topping the Eagles, 9-6.

The usual scorers, Mario Constantinou and Mike Bartock, gave the Squirrels a 2-0 lead in the first period.

Bartock scored again early in the second, and Ben Sumner banked in a shot shortly after, before the Eagles finally got in the board. Bob Valdes and Scott Kronzek put the Squirrels up 6-1, but the Eagles scored in the final 17 seconds of the period.

Jason Wolf scored early in the third, but the Eagles would score four times in the period to make the game competitive. Fortunately, Constantinou and Kronzek each tallied to give the Squirrels some breathing room.
