After dropping the first two against them, the Squirrels finally beat Meltdown on Wednesday in a hard-fought 6-3 victory.
Down 1-0 in the second, Mike Bartock scored on a slap shot from the point, before Scott Kronzek scored in a power play a few minutes later. Meltdown tied the game at 2, but with just a second to go in the period, Bryan Chiang hit in a rebound to give the Squirrels a 3-2 lead.
After a Meltdown player charged, and then swung at Kyle Festa’s head, the Squirrels had a 4-minute power play near the beginning of the third period. Tony Richelsen scored, and the Squirrels held on to a 4-2 lead for much of the period. Kronzek scored his second of the game at 9:47. Shortly after, Meltdown made it 5-3 off a quick shot from the left faceoff circle. Mario Constantinou scored with about two minutes remaining for the final Squirrels goal. Constantinou also had three assists.
