Roller: Meeks Frustrates Squirrels

The Squirrels have been playing against goaltender Ryan Meeks for years, and usually get the better of him due to the lopsided shot count. Wednesday, the Squirrels once again had a lopsided shot count, 38-24, but fell to the lowly Real C Team, 5-4, as Patrick Reilly scored four times.

Aside from a Rob Myers’ shorthanded goal, Kyle Gassert was the only one who could routinely get the puck past Meeks, and did so three times.

With only six skaters, including backup goaltender Bob Sewell in net, the Squirrels managed to shut out the fully-benched 5 Holes on Tuesday, 4-0.

Rob Myers scored only 26 seconds into the game, but little else happened until five minutes into the second period when Kyle Gassert’s slap shot went past 5 Holes goaltender Brandon Miller.

Stew Miller added a pair of goals and Sewell stopped 25 shots.

Despite only having seven skaters, the Squirrels put together a solid performance Tuesday and skated off to an 8-2 victory against District 5.

The box score is totally incorrect, so much so that the Squirrels aren’t even sure which corrections to send to the league.

Kaleigh Richelsen Born

Kaleigh Marie Richelsen was born at 1:13 on May 24. She is 7 lbs, 3 oz. and 19.5 inches long. Tricia is said to be doing fine. No word yet on how Desi is, however, but we’re assuming his daughter has already made him forget about his recent appendectomy.

Congratulations to new mom and dad Tricia and Desi, and new aunt and uncle Tony and Steph!
