The Squirrels set themselves up for a win Wednesday with a late power play with the score tied at 7, but instead surrendered a short-handed goal and fell to Team Mylec, 8-7. The Squirrels also gave up four power play goals, while scoring two themselves.

Jeff Ford scored three goals for the Squirrels and Stu Miller had two.

In his first season as a Squirrel, Mark Tessar led the team in the regular season with 18 goals and 12 assists. The Squirrels finished in 5th place

The Squirrels got a second shut out in a row Sunday and avenged a loss to the Brewins earlier in the season with a 6-0 victory. Tim Carter led the way with 3 goals and an assist. Eric Coulson made 14 saves.

High Rollers 7, Squirrels 5Can’t Hold Lead

The Squirrels have played the first place High Rollers twice already this season and both times lost by only a goal each time. This time, the Squirrels held a 5-3 lead midway through the second period before surrendering four straight goals and falling, 7-5.

The Squirrels found themselves in a 2-0 hole early in the game, ending the first period down 3-1. Early in the second, the Squirrels scored four straight to take the lead. The first period featured 20 minutes in penalties between the two teams, with none in the second.

In the first game of the season, the Squirrels struggled against Pucks Deep, a team that had trouble standing on two skates. Nearly two months later, the Squirrels jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first period, then scored the seventh late in the third. The Squirrels also had a full bench for the first time and didn’t suck wind between each shift as they have recently.
