Luke Chung had all three goals for the Squirrels, including two on the power play. Despite the final score, the game was tight through the first two periods, though the Whalers had a 2-0 lead half-way through the game. Chung scored twice in the second period, including on a one-timer in the slot on a perfect pass from Geoff Grek with only four seconds remaining in the period.
The Whalers scored two quick goals early in the third period, which put the game out of reach.
