Squirrels 3, Laughing Skulls 2

The Squirrels got their first win of the season Tuesday in a nail-biter, topping the Laughing Skulls 3-2.

Neither team scored for two periods. In the third, the Squirrels broke through, as Vivek Pinto putted a shot in. About a minute later, Tony Richelsen passed to Brent Machado, who roofed in a shot. A couple of minutes after that, Pinto passed to Bob Valdes, who put the Squirrels up 3-0 with just less than eight minutes remaining in the game.

The Skulls finally broke through with a knuckler into the corner, and with a pulled goalie, willed in another shot. But despite pressure down the stretch, the Squirrels held on for the win.
