The Squirrels and the Laughing Skulls battled very much evenly for much of the game, even after the Squirrels took a 2-0 lead, but the Laughing Skulls tied it with two quick goals in the third period and prevailed in the shootout with a single goal.
Scott Kronzek and Dave Chung each scored for the Squirrels, while the ringer on the Laughing Skulls – who plays for four teams – scored both goals.
With five seconds remaining, a brouhaha broke out, leading to a fighting major for a Skulls player and a few ejections. The Squirrels still somehow ended up with a power play but it didn’t matter at that point, though it took nearly ten minutes to sort out.
