The Squirrels played a relatively solid game against the Wiley Gunters on Sunday, even outshooting them 26-20, but fell, 5-3.
The Wiley Gunters scored first, and then in the final minute to take a 2-0 lead. Meanwhile, the Squirrels had plenty of chances but couldn’t sneak one through. Finally, Scott Kronzek scored on a wrap-around in the first minute of the second period, but then the Wiley Gunters answered.
Down 3-1 with less than five minutes left in the game, Kronzek scored again, but a late power play for the Wiley Gunters got them another goal. The Squirrels pulled their goalie, which led to an empty net goal. Mario Constantinou scored on a slap shot in the final second off of a faceoff.
