The Squirrels snapped their losing streak Wednesday with a 5-4 win against Blades of Steel.
Mike Bartock got the scoring started for the Squirrels in the first period, but Blades of Steel tacked on two for a 2-1 lead after the first period.
The teams traded goals in the second as Brent Machado scored his first, and the Squirrels trailed 3-2 going into the final period.
Machado scored again early in the third to tie the game, before Bob Valdes scored first on a wrister, then on a deflection to give the Squirrels the lead and an insurance goal. They needed it, as Blades of Steel scored with plenty of time remaining as they pulled their goalie, but the Squirrels killed off the rest of the game for the win.
The Squirrels faced off against teammate Mario Constantinou, who is on both teams.
