The Screaming Squirrels, along with players from Panic and HNA’s Vipers, finished 0-1-2 in the Heineken ice tournament Friday and Saturday, despite a moral victory in the final game.
The Squirrels lost 7-2 in the first game to the White Caps. They tied the Larry’s 1-1 in the second game, which they felt they should have won. Then they played Brew Pub, who had beaten the White Caps 3-0 and beaten the Larry’s 8-0. Brew Pub took the lead early and appeared to be on the verge of running away with the game, but the Squirrels won the second period and tied the game at 3-3. Then Brew Pub took over in the third period, and eventually won 9-4. However, Brew Pub was furious that they had given up four goals.
The players enjoyed the tournament and are looking forward to playing in it again.
