Squirrels 3, 2intheBOX 1

The Screaming Squirrels battled fairly evenly with 2intheBox  for much of the game Wednesday and came away with a 3-1 victory.

Mario Constantinou scored late in the first period for the Squirrels on a pass from Bob Valdes. 2intheBox answered early in the second period, but late in the second, Mike Bartock fought through two defenders to score the game-winning goal. Tony Richelsen added an empty net goal.

Sub goalie Steve Borsh got the win in net for the Squirrels.

Though it was the first time the two teams played against one another, there were a lot of familiar faces on 2intheBox (many of whom also play on the Renegades), but that mattered little Tuesday as the Squirrels fell, 2-1. The Squirrels still played a fairly solid game despite the loss, outshooting 2intheBox 29-27, despite giving up 10 minutes of power play time. Mark Tessar scored the only goal for the Squirrels.
