Championship: Squirrels 3, Ice Men 1

The Screaming Squirrels completed their first undefeated season (10-0) Tuesday night with a hard-fought 3-1 victory over the Ice Men. The Squirrels got off to a slow start, giving up an early goal and trailing most of the first period. A goal with less than a minute remaining in the first turned the momentum, and a second period goal put the Squirrels ahead for good. The Ice Men made one final run on a power play at the end, but the Squirrels killed it off and brought home the 2004 Hockey North America Beginner League trophy.

Ice: Squirrels 8, Ice Devils 5; Roller: Squirrels 4, 5 Holes 1

Squirrels win 2 games at the same time

The Screaming Squirrels set a team milestone Tuesday, April 27, as both the ice and roller team won at the same time. With both rosters significantly shortened, the roller team dominated in a 4-1 victory over last year’s rival, the 5 Holes. Meanwhile, the ice team completed its undefeated regular season (8-0) with an 8-5 win against the Ice Devils. Special praise goes to Don Marks and Chris Long. Immediately after the roller game ended, they sped around the beltway to play the second half of the ice game. Two games, two different venues, two different surfaces, two different skates, two victories.

Next week we have 3 games within 3 nights. The Roller team plays Tuesday and Thursday, while the Ice team begins the Playoffs on Wednesday. Go Squirrels!

Squirrels Start the Ice Season 3-0

The Screaming Squirrels have finally begun our Ice Season, and have stormed out of the gate with a 3-0 record. Our most recent victory came last night against the Ice Men. Greg Wenograd scored the first ever Hat Trick for the Ice Team, enroute to the 6-1 victory. All statistics on the webpage are updated immediately after each game and should always reflect our current record and scoring leaders. Our next game isn’t until Saturday March 27th at 1:45 PM against the Bulldogs. Hopefully the reasonable time of the game will make it a prime opportunity to get the Squirrels fanclub out there to cheer us on.
