Roller: Squirrels 7, Whale 4

The Squirrels won their second game in two nights with a slightly different lineup Thursday, this time outscoring Whale, 7-4. Despite the loss, Whale played a great game, outshooting the Squirrels and oftentimes controlling the offensive zone as if they were on a power play, though they weren’t. The Squirrels, however, opened the floodgates, as both Casey Carpenter and Stu Miller each scored three goals, while Mark Tessar had the other.

The Squirrels held a 5-2 lead at the half, then extended it to 6-2 before both teams went another 13 minutes without scoring. The Whale cut the lead to two with 38 seconds remaining but the Squirrels not only held on, but netted another, and improved their record to 3-2 on the season.

Ice: Panic 4, Squirrels 3

With only two subs on the bench, the Screaming Squirrels played Panic for the first time in several years Saturday, but couldn’t come back from a 3-0 deficit, and ended up falling 4-3.

In worse news, David Steckel is out for the remainder of the season with a leg injury. Also, Tom Fischer has moved away. The Squirrels made three finals appearances with Fischer, winning one championship as he led the team in scoring.

Roller: TWSS 4, Squirrels 2

The Squirrels continued to search for their roller legs Thursday, still feeling some rust from a long offseason while falling 4-2 to That’s What She Said. The Squirrels, however, still outshot TWSS, 27-19, but a few bounces ended up making the difference.

Rob Myers and Don Marks each scored, while Jeff Ford made his return to the lineup.

Roller: Jesters 5, Squirrels 3

In what can only be described as a lousy game for both teams, the Jesters bested the Squirrels in their second game of the night Thursday as both teams appeared drained of energy.

The Squirrels did, however, tie the game at 3 with five minutes to go, but the Jesters took advantage on the next shift and scored the go-ahead goal, holding on for a 5-3 victory.

Casey Carpenter, Mark Tessar and Stu Miller scored for the Squirrels.
