Squirrels 4, Laughing Skulls 2

The Squirrels put together a solid victory Friday, skating to a 4-2 win against the Laughing Skulls.

Early in the first period, from the defensive zone, Don Marks passed up the middle to spring Mario Constantinou for a breakaway. He scored five-hole to give the Squirrels a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Bob Valdes intercepted a pass along the board and sent the puck out front. The goalie paddled the puck into his own net and Geoff Grek got credit for the goal.

In the second period, Valdes skated the puck in and shot it wide. The puck bounced behind the net and right to Constantinou, who scored.

The third period didn’t start so well for the Squirrels, as Jeff Bell from the Laughing Skulls scored, and then scored again about seven minutes later, to make the score 3-2. But Grek got his second of the game with just over five minutes remaining.

The Squirrels killed off two penalties in the game and was 0-1 on the power play.
