Squirrels 4, Eagles 2

The Squirrels put together a solid victory Thursday, getting under the skin of the Eagles and drawing lots of penalties in a 4-2 win.

Mike Bartock scored in the first minute of an otherwise uneventful first period, but the Eagles scored a late goal to tie it up. Things got chippy in the second period after a player was taken down by Squirrels goalie Craig Beatty, leading to retaliation penalties that lasted much of the rest of the game.

The Eagles did, however, take a 2-1 lead before Bartock and Vivek Pinto tallied to give the Squirrels the lead back.

In the third, the Eagles got frustrated at what they thought was an uncalled body-check and took a retaliation penalty, then decided to take more bad penalties a couple of minutes later, giving the Squirrels a five-on-three advantage. Mario Constantinou’s one-timer put the Squirrels up 4-2.

More penalties happened after that, one of which was actually necessary as the Eagles had a breakaway, but the game ended without anyone getting hurt.
