The Screaming Squirrels beat the Hockey Donkeys for the second time this season, this time in a much tighter 2-1 victory as the Squirrels snapped a four-game losing streak.
In the second period, a bad bounce off a defender’s leg led to the only goal Merritt Lyon gave up all night. During the second shift of a power play, Marc Irby tied up the game, and Neil Shah gave the Squirrels the lead in a scramble a few minutes later.
The Squirrels killed off the rest of the game, including parts of a 5-on-3 in the third.
The last time the two teams played each other, the Squirrels won 6-5 in a shootout.
