The Squirrels got a much-needed victory against a depleted Whalers team on Saturday, winning 5-0 in a battle of two short-benched teams.
Playing forward, Tim Stump scored the first three goals of the game, the first with a shot from the left side, the second off of a rebound in front of the net, and the third after a forced turnover led to him open in front of the net. Stump also had an assist as he fed Pat Reilly for a slam-dunk. In the third period, Bob Valdes scored off of a rebound.
Brewins goalie Ron McNeil subbed in net for the Squirrels and got a 28-save shutout.
