The Squirrels faced their old nemesis, Silver Spring, on Thursday, skating with only two subs but easily outlasting them after a competitive first half. The Squirrels took a 3-0 lead in the first 10 minutes, then surrendered 3 goals in five minutes to close out the half.
In the second, the Squirrels scored five straight, though ‘scored’ might be a stretch considering Charles Warner’s second goal of the game hit the glass behind the net, bounced out front, and the defenseman lifted his leg up, purposely trying to kick it, and wound up kicking it right into the net. It was funny.
