Roller: Squirrels 10, Team Mylec 0

Despite not scoring a goal for the first 7:50 of the game, the Squirrels put up 8 first period goals Tuesday en route to an easy 10-0 victory against Team Mylec. This was without their two most prolific scorers, Amy Reich and Casey Carpenter. To Team Mylec’s credit, they didn’t give up, pressing to the very end. Ed Owen, who played in net for the Squirrels, had a 15-save shutout.

Vivek Pinto led the Squirrels with 3 goals and 3 assists.

Roller: Squirrels 3, TWSS 2

A nearly complete Squirrels squad played Tuesday, winning but hardly putting together their best effort in a 3-2 victory against That’s What She Said.

The only missing player for the Squirrels was goaltender Stu Miller , who was watching from the stands as he nursed an ankle injury. The High Rollers’ goalie played in his place.

Marc Irby and Casey Carpenter scored to put the Squirrels up 2-0 in the first, but TWSS kept pressing and winning many races to the puck. They scored in the first, and seven minutes into the second as the teams were tied 2-2 down the stretch. A late power play for the Squirrels yielded chances but no goal. Finally, Carpenter netter his second late in the game to give the Squirrels a 3-2 lead, keeping them in second place in the league.

Roller: Dinosaurs 9, Squirrels 4

The Dinosaurs simply got the best of the Squirrels on Tuesday, taking advantage of their long bench as the Squirrels were missing several key players.

Despite the six first-period goals and three second-period goals, the Squirrels did find some offense. Matt Ekinci stole the puck from a Dinosaurs player right behind his net and slammed in a shot for a 1-0 lead. Later, Charles Warner capitalized off of a turnover and deked out the goaltender, before Ben Sumner hit in a rebound off of Arie Stock’s shot as the Squirrels cut the lead to 5-3. That was as close as they got. Late in the game, Amy Reich made a pretty move down low, sending the goalie scrambling as she netted a power play goal.

Roller: Squirrels 7, Jesters 4

With only two subs in an extremely hot rink, the Squirrels got revenge on the Jesters on Thursday, as their goalie allowed an uncharacteristic 7 goals, including 5 in the second period, as the Squirrels ran away with a 7-4 win.

It was tight in the first period, as Vivek Pinto and Charles Warner each scored but the game was tied 2-2 going into the half. Pinto snuck one through in the first shift of the second period but it was a 3-2 game for the next nine minutes. Then the Squirrels scored three straight in only a couple of minutes. The Jesters still had legs, however, adding two more though Greg Hainer also scored to put the game out of reach.

The Squirrels took over second place with the win, only 3 points behind the Dinosaurs, who lost their first of the season Thursday.
