Roller: Team Mylec 9, Squirrels 1

The Squirrels’ 10-game winning streak came to a screeching halt in the final game of the season Wednesday, as the second game of the double header left them with littler energy. Team Mylec took advantage, putting up 7 goals in the first period en route to a 9-1 win.

The loss could cost the Squirrels a shot at first place, as the Jesters’ victory can seal it for them.

Playoffs are next.

The Squirrels won their ninth in a row Wednesday, narrowly avoiding giving up the game-tying goal in the final seconds as they escaped with a 6-5 win over the Whale. Up 4-1 in the first, the Squirrels then surrendered four of the next five goals before Mark Tessar scored the winner with less than two minutes remaining. Tessar scored twice, as did Casey Carpenter. Jeff Ford and Rob Myers also scored.

The Squirrels found yet another odd way to win, giving up four leads throughout the game but scoring with only three seconds remaining for a 5-4 win against a very determined High Rollers team. With 8 seconds remaining in a tie game, Vivek Pinto chipped in a shot to seal the victory. It was his second goal of the game. Mark Tessar also scored twice, with Casey Carpenter also scoring.

The Squirrels found yet another way to win Wednesday, giving up several leads but prevailing with Stu Miller’s short-handed game-winner late in the game while avenging an early-season loss to TWSS. Jeff Ford had a hat-trick, Casey Carpenter scored twice and Vivek Pinto also scored. Mark Tessar had three assists.
