The 5-Holes thought they won in the finals seconds Thursday, but the puck hit the post and somehow stayed out of the net as the teams settled for a 3-3 tie.
Mark Tessar got the scoring started in the first period before the 5 Holes answered with two to take a 2-1 lead into the half. Rob Myers tied the game early in the second period on the power play, a few minutes before taking a double minor for slashing and roughing, which he blamed on his kid for making him have a bad day. Steve Price scored on the power play for the 5 Holes, but Kyle Gassert tied the game on a Squirrels’ power play at 8:08 of the second period.
Stu Miller made 19 saves for the Squirrels, who have three games remaining in the regular season.
The game appeared to be 3-3 from the very beginning because the scoreboard hadn’t been reset.
