The Squirrels got a bonus game this season, one more regular season game than everyone else due to uneven teams in the division, and made the most of it in a 5-2 win against the Laughing Skulls.
Tony Richelsen scored right after the opening faceoff, giving the Squirrels a 1-0 lead. Tim Stump and Mike Bartock scored to put the Squirrels up 3-0 at the end of the first. Richelsen scored again in the second period. But the Skulls scored two quick goals to cut the Squirrels lead to 4-2.
Sub Jon Der scored in the third period for the Squirrels.
The Squirrels outshot the Skulls, 44-20.
The same two teams will face off in the playoffs next Friday at 10 p.m.
