Missing more than half of their regulars, the Screaming Squirrels edged out the Laughing Skulls on Monday in their first game since moving up to Bronze 1.

With a short bench, the Squirrels couldn’t get anything going against the newly-demoted Laughing Skulls on Sunday, falling 3-0.

Despite getting off to a slow start, as in trying to figure out what their lines were, the Screaming Squirrels jumped out to a 3-0 lead late in the first period, then scored three more in the first 49 seconds of the second, en route to an 11-1 victory against the Laughing Skulls. The only hiccup came with a 7-0 lead, when they gave up a goal (and thus, a running clock, much to the ref’s dismay), but it didn’t matter as the 10-goal lead ended the game.Continue reading

The oddest part about Wednesday’s 6-0 loss for the Squirrels was that they really didn’t play that badly. Despite plenty of chances and even possession time, the Squirrels simply couldn’t get the puck past the goalie. The Squirrels also happened to be missing their top three points producers.
