Roller: Jesters 5, Squirrels 2

The Squirrels and the Jesters games have been extremely competitive in the past few years, and Thursday’s was no different up until an awful 5:18 in the second period when the Squirrels yielded three straight. From there, the Jesters held on to the 5-2 win.

Former Squirrels player Ed Owen played remarkable in net for the Jesters, robbing the Squirrels multiple times. Casey Carpenter and Vivek Pinto scored for the Squirrels, while Bryan Bednarczyk  scored four times for the Jesters.

Roller: Squirrels 10, Team Mylec 5; Squirrels 6, High Rollers 4

The Squirrels won both of their games Tuesday, running away with a 10-5 victory against Teams Mylec before holding on for a 6-4 win against the High Rollers.

In the first game, the Squirrels had both Casey Carpenter and Charles Warner play together for the first time. While the first period was tight, the Squirrels dominated the second half and ran away with the game.

The Squirrels didn’t have either Carpenter or Warner for the second game, and with tired legs they held a two-goal lead with four minutes remaining. The Squirrels, however, were on their heels, both tired and being outplayed at times down the stretch.

Then Warner shoed up, having just played most of an ice game on the other rink. He also came under the impression that the Squirrels were actually losing 5-3 and needed his help. While the second part was true, it came as a huge surprise to him as he said he only suited back up for a rally. At that point, the Squirrels were able to keep the puck away from the net long more easily, and scored an empty-netter for the 6-4 win.

Meltdown 4, Squirrels 3

The Squirrels fought back with three goals in the third period, but the 4-0 Meltdown lead was too much to overcome Sunday, and the Squirrels fell 4-3. It was stellar goaltending that saved the day for Meltdown, as their sub goalie stonewalled the Squirrels through two periods as the Squirrels had plenty of chances.

Rob Myers, Don Marks and Tony Richelsen scored for the Squirrels, but Meltdown killed off the last four minutes for the victory.

Roller: TWSS 5, Squirrels 4 (SO)

The Squirrels let one slip away Tuesday, yielding a late goal – which was kicked in – and then falling in a six-round shootout to That’s What She Said, 5-4.

Casey Carpenter scored the first two goals for the Squirrels, who didn’t give up a goal until 8:45 of the second period. They tied the game shortly after, but the Squirrels regained the lead – twice – but a shot that was definitely kicked in with 1:16 remaining gave TWSS the tying goal needed for the shootout. Ari Stock also scored for the Squirrels.

Stealthy Choice 8, Squirrels 4

A very bad first period wasn’t surmountable for the Squirrels on Thursday, as they gave up 5 goals en route to an 8-4 loss. Three straight goals in the third did cut the lead to 7-4, but that’s as close as the Squirrels could get. Don Marks had two goals and an assist. Terry Young and Neil Shah also scored.
