The Squirrels and Laughing Skulls traded goals early, but the Squirrels went ahead in the second period and held on for a 6-4 win.
After going down 1-0 early in the game, Mario Constantinou smacked in a rebound to tie the game. The Skulls struck back, but Mike Bartock scored on a breakaway where of sorts, and Jason Wolf redirected Geoff Grek’s slap shot to give the Squirrels a 3-2 lead at the end of the first period.
The Squirrels took a penalty early int he second period, but their forechecking led to a short-handed goal by Matt Wolf. But the Squirrels gave up a goal on the same power play shortly after.
Then the Squirrels pulled ahead for good on goals by Nate Groves and Jason Wolf. The Skulls scored once more in the third period, but the Squirrels held on for the 6-4 win.
