The Squirrels/Mastodons rivalry bounced back in the Squirrels’ direction Sunday with a 3-1 victory.
Brent Machado scored first less than a minute and a half into the game, before the Mastodons scored on a breakaway toward the end of the first period.
Machado scored his second after taking a slap-pass from Don Marks. Despite several power plays, include a long 2-man advantage, the Squirrels couldn’t extend their lead, despite having the possession advantage. Finally, the Squirrels got a PP and insurance goal late in the period by Mario Constantinou.
Going into the break, the Squirrels are second best in goals against, and second worst in goals scored. They’re tied for third place – with three other teams, at 4-3-2.
