The Squirrels completed a three-game season sweep against the Hockey Donkeys on Sunday, knocking them out of second place.
The line of Brent Machado, Ari Stock and Vivek Pinto scored the first four goals, while both Bob Valdes and Tero Moberg scored on late breakaways. The Squirrels had several breakaways during the game, including seconds after the opening faceoff, but didn’t capitalize until later.
The Squirrels were already stuck in fourth place prior to the game, and have one left before the playoffs begin. The Hockey Donkeys are 14-4-1, and would otherwise be in first place they got more than one standings point in three games against the Squirrels.
